‘Culture Unplugged’ is not just a name of a studio, it is a mission - a vision and aspiration to integrate disparate parts of the self and the global human society. It aims to achieve this, primarily by leveraging the power of new media and extending the effort to offline events and actions. But above all, achieve the mission by being the seeker of truth ‘herself’ on the journey ‘her’ vision charts ahead - not just be an organization, but be the way of being - as referred here as ‘She’.
At present, Culture Unplugged efforts are focused on enabling networks of socially & spiritually conscious content and its creators. With presence in India, USA, Indonesia and New Zealand, we are dedicated to bring authentic/independent voices of diverse cultures to global audiences. We are committed to contemplate and contribute to our personal as well as collective spiritual need of the time. Our focus is on the inner+inter cultural expression. Our aim is to work toward unity & harmony through all kinds of man-made divisions.
In brief, Culture Unplugged, by and for global community of conscious storytellers, culture explorers and world citizens to reflect on issues and life experiences in contemporary world - a new media studio focused on producing as well as promoting socially & spiritually sensitive stories/films that does not merely express but pulsate to energize, enchant, enlighten, engage or embrace the humanity in us all.
We debuted in May 2008 with the first online film festival. To date, we have launched eight festivals. This festival site will continue to host four theme-based festivals: We Speak, Here; Humanity Explored; Green Unplugged and Spirit Enlightened. These festivals explore the present forms of individual being, the currents of our collective humanity, the earth/nature/ environment, as well as the ever-evolving spirit/consciousness. With these festivals we aspire to facilitate the divine impulse to shift our collective consciousness and co-create our culture and nature, within and without, that leads our present to the awaiting future.
These festivals are non-commercial. For this effort, we are in gratitude for the partnership with all participating film-makers and other organizations who have or will join the mission. If you are a film/media producer and wish to participate, please submit film(s) here. If you wish to watch films in the current festival, please visit here.
Culture Unplugged aspires to become a dynamic community with multi-nodal, self-governed operations and a
co-ordinating center
- the community that is bound by the new vision of the world and the mission that motivates all, the community that functions
as an eye for the global society by not only producing or presenting stories but above all by promoting our
collective soul's voice via the medium of films. It is an aspiration to co-create the platform to unite and nourish the milieu
that offers opportunity to the aware citizens and storytellers to act their part in service to local & global society.
We have also launched another online platform that caters to upcoming as well as established film-makers, looking to reach out to wider audiences for the social mission and/or find new markets & connect with global producers. With this platform, we wish to facilitate a cross-pollination of ideas, spirit and knowledge among storytellers, content producers, professionals from social/scientific arenas and global audiences.
We are focusing on producing digital/HD content. Our productions aspire to be low cost & global without any preconceived limits on form or length of the content which presents creative spirituality at work. We also invite collaborations across borders on documentary productions on specific social issues. We believe in innovation through peaceful subversion of the proverbial precepts. We DO NOT wish to produce to fill the spaces in media channel, but fill spaces within us.
In keeping with its mission and philosophy, Culture Unplugged believes in playing the role of a facilitator with its offerings and passes on 100% of sponsorship/contributions generated directly to the film-makers, producers or distributors. Culture Unplugged believes in self-enabling all film-makers/producers/distributors who are willing to become part of the community and mission, distribute their films/media per their preference. To furnish the request of some independent film-makers/producers, in the near future, we will offer a new revenue generation opportunity via the filMedia network venue.
Culture Unplugged has consciously not taken any active initiative to publicize this efforts via mass media/PR channels, nor have we participated in special events to self promote. We believe and hope the citizens across the globe will continue to discover this venue organically or via invitations. This effort belongs to all film-makers, viewers, organizations and institutions who have joined the platform to share and enable this effort for our collective evolution.
